Thoracoabdominal Aortic Aneurysms

These are complex aneurysms involving a percentage of the thoracic and abdominal aorta. The causes for thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms are similar to descending aortic aneurysms. There is a classification for thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms, is called the Crawford Classification. The classification delineates the portions of the aorta that is involved in the aneurysm. These aneurysms should be evaluated at dedicated aortic centers because of the complexity of the operative repair, neurological monitoring and after care. Please look at separate sections, which describe the various aneurysms according to the Crawford Classification. Look at the anatomy section to have a better understanding of these aneurysms and their extent.
