David Procedure

Picture
This a typical aortic root aneurysm. You can see how wide the bottom portion of the ascending aorta appears.
Picture
The aneurysm is removed and the aortic valve is examined and prepared for the re-implantation procedure. The two major blood vessels to the heart (left and right coronary arteries are prepared.
Picture
The graft is selected and sutures are placed in the aortic root and graft. The graft is lowered onto the aortic valve and aortic root.
Picture
The aortic valve is sutured onto the graft.
Picture
After lowering the graft onto the aortic root, the valve is inspected and the sutures are tied carefully.
Picture
The major blood vessels to the heart are sutured onto the graft.
Picture
This is the completed aortic root replacement.

This photo shows a real completed David Procedure.
