The majority of the responders to the questionnaire were from the United States. The responders were mainly from the Northern Hemisphere representing New York, Michigan, Illinois, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and others.  A small number of responders were from Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina and others. 
73% had a history of high blood pressure at the time of the acute aortic dissection. 
Only 17% of responders had a known bicuspid aortic valve at the time of the aortic dissection.
